¡Arrancamos la 5ª edición del Programa de Mentorías Mujeres Líderes de SwissCham México! Con la participación de Karina Lerma, Presidenta de SwissCham México, dimos la bienvenida a 100 participantes de 28 empresas suizas. Este año, sumamos aliados clave como la Secretaria de Educación Publica y la Secretaría de Mujeres CDMX, quienes integran a mentees de educación dual y asesoras de género. We kicked off the 5th edition of SwissCham Mexico’s Women Leaders Mentoring Program! With the participation of Karina Lerma, President of SwissCham Mexico, we welcomed 100 participants from 28 Swiss companies. This year, we added key allies such as the Ministry of Public Education and the Ministry of Women CDMX, who integrate dual education mentors and gender advisors. We thank the authorities and strategic allies: Yves Dominique Reymond Vanegas, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Embassy of Switzerland in Mexico; Ms. Daptnhe Cuevas Ortiz, Head of the Secretariat of Women CDMX; Dr. Virginia Lorenzo Holm, Sector Coordinator of Academic Strengthening, SEP; Pablo Necoechea, General Director of EGADE Business School of the Tecnológico de Monterrey CDMX; and Lourdes Colinas, National Program Officer at UN Women Mexico.

SwissCham Mexico had the honor of attending the inauguration of the National Employment Fair for Women organized by the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion CDMX in collaboration with the STyPS and the National Employment Service.

We celebrate the initiatives promoted to promote the labor insertion of women in the country by Mrs. Clara Brugada, Chief of Government of the CDMX; Mr. Marath Baruch Bolaños, Secretary of STyPS; Mrs. Inés González, Secretary of Labor and Employment Promotion CDMX; and Mrs. Dapthne Cuevas, Secretary of Women CDMX.

On behalf of SwissCham México, Karina Lerma, President, and Emilia Pfeiffer, Managing Director, participated in the Swiss Economic Mission to Mexico, led by Under-Secretary for Foreign Economic Affairs, Ivo Germann.

As the voice of the Swiss private sector in Mexico, our participation in this mission provided a valuable platform to strengthen dialogue, explore new opportunities, and establish strategic partnerships in both Monterrey and Mexico City. We engaged with key institutions such as the SHCP, Secretaría de Ciencia, Humanidades, Tecnología e Innovación Secihti and the Secretariat of Economy.

SwissCham Mexico held a meeting with SEMARNAT, with the participation of Emilia Pfeiffer, Director General; Miguel Gaspar Sánchez, Coordinator of the Energy and Sustainability Committee; Eric Castillo, SwissCham Mexico Project Coordinator; and Patricia Mijares, Minergie Representative. During the meeting, we discussed possible synergies, and agreed to actively participate in the Forums on circular economy and climate change, as well as SEMARNAT’s priority projects for environmental protection and wellbeing in Mexico.

SwissCham Mexico and the Embassy of Switzerland in Mexico, as TeamSwitzerland, visited the facilities of the Secretariat of Tourism of Mexico City to discuss opportunities for collaboration.

We thank the Institute for the Promotion of Tourism of the Secretariat of Tourism of Mexico City for receiving us and opening spaces for dialogue to explore joint opportunities in the sector.

With the participation of more than 200 women leaders, we commemorated International Women’s Day by reaffirming the commitment of EUROCAM and SwissCham Mexico to gender equality. Moderated by Karina Lerma, President of SwissCham Mexico and CEO of Fracht Group Mexico, the panel “Women who transform. Accelerating Women’s Empowerment”, highlighted the role of the private sector in driving female leadership.

We would like to thank Holland House Mexico and all the European Chambers of EUROCAM for generating this space for dialogue and collaboration towards more inclusive work environments.

A través del diálogo con actores clave, exploramos oportunidades y mejores prácticas para seguir fortaleciendo el modelo de educación dual en México, una iniciativa en la que empresas suizas como Schindler Group han sido referentes.

SwissCham Mexico participated in the Forum on Dual Education: Exchange of Experiences and Learnings 2025, organized by the OEI – Organization of Ibero-American States at the Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City.

Through dialogue with key actors, we explored opportunities and best practices to further strengthen the dual education model in Mexico, an initiative in which Swiss companies such as Schindler Group have been leaders.

As part of our commitment to innovation and technology in the Bajío region, we participated in the Suhner Mexico Open House, where we learned first-hand about their automation and surface finishing solutions.

SwissCham México en colaboración con ANFPA y COMCE Oficial (Consejo Empresarial Mexicano de Comercio Exterior Inversión y Tecnología), organizamos un webinar para analizar el impacto de los aranceles en 2025 y los retos para el comercio internacional. El webinar contó con las presentaciones de Eusebio Hidalgo Flores (Consultores Internacionales ANSLEY) sobre la política arancelaria de EE.UU. bajo el segundo mandato de Donald Trump; y Orlando Perez Garate (Tsuru) sobre los retos y oportunidades del comercio México-EE.UU.

SwissCham Mexico in collaboration with ANFPA and COMCE Oficial (Consejo Empresarial Mexicano de Comercio Exterior Inversión y Tecnología), organized a webinar to analyze the impact of tariffs in 2025 and the challenges for international trade. The webinar featured presentations by Eusebio Hidalgo Flores (ANSLEY International Consultants) on US tariff policy under Donald Trump’s second term; and Orlando Perez Garate (Tsuru) on the challenges and opportunities for US-Mexico trade.

En el marco de la Agenda Positiva impulsada por el Team Switzerland, Karina Lerma, Presidenta de SwissCham México, participó en el Taller “Metodologías de Integridad Empresarial México-Suiza” junto al Embajador de Suiza en México, Pietro Piffaretti, organizado con la Secretaría Anticorrupción y Buen Gobierno.

Within the framework of the Positive Agenda promoted by Team Switzerland, Karina Lerma, President of SwissCham Mexico, participated in the Workshop “Mexico-Switzerland Business Integrity Methodologies” together with the Ambassador of Switzerland in Mexico, Pietro Piffaretti, organized with the Secretariat for Anti-Corruption and Good Governance.

We thank Secretary Raquel Buenrostro, Undersecretary Alejandro Encinas Nájera, Iraís Barreto, Head of the Social Participation and Shared Responsibility Unit, and her team for promoting this relevant dialogue! During the workshop, representatives from the Swiss companies Holcim Mexico, Nestlé, Novartis and SICPA shared best practices in: Compliance Principles, Risk Analysis, Third Party Management and Whistleblowing.

We celebrated the 9th General Assembly of SwissCham Mexico, led by Karina Lerma, President of SwissCham, and with the distinguished presence of the Ambassador of Switzerland in Mexico, Mr. Pietro Piffaretti.

SwissCham Mexico participated in the MedTech mission led by Switzerland Global Enterprise, Swiss Business Hub Mexico and Swiss Business Hub USA, an excellent opportunity to explore investment opportunities in the #MedTech sector in Tijuana.
During the mission, we visited leading companies such as Medtronic and participated in strategic sessions with authorities, including a meeting with the Governor of the State Government of Baja California.

We held the Swiss Women Leaders Forum, which was attended by 120 participants of the SwissCham Mexico mentoring program from 30 Swiss companies, and which was also the ideal space to generate two conversations with the objective of meeting women leaders from different industries who shared the importance of gender equality in their day-to-day spaces.

Llevamos a cabo el Foro Suizo de Mujeres Líderes, el cual contó con la participación 120 participantes del programa de mentorías de SwissCham México de 30 empresas suizas, y que además fue el espacio idóneo para generar dos conversatorios con el objetivo de conocer a mujeres líderes de distintas industrias quienes compartieron la importancia de la igualdad de género en sus espacios día con día.

This morning, together with Dr. Jorge Gaviño, Secretary General of the Mexican Social Security Institute, representatives of the Board of SwissCham Mexico, Fernando J Cruz, Enrique Liñero, Emilia Pfeiffer, and Yves Dominique Reymond Vanegas of the Swiss Embassy, we reaffirmed the commitment of Swiss companies to collaborate in strengthening the health sector and ensuring access to medicines as a shared priority.

Public Health Program (SSPH+) and the Swiss Chambers in Latin America, brought together more than 100 participants from the region. Its main objective was to foster the exchange of innovative ideas and best practices in the health sector, connecting leaders from different fields.

We congratulate the more than 40 Mexican public officials who successfully completed the program.

Last Monday we held the SWISStainability 2024 Forum, bringing together leaders, academics and sustainability experts from Mexico and Switzerland. We were welcomed by the President of SwissCham Mexico, Karina Lerma, the Ambassador of Switzerland, Pietro Piffaretti, Vicente Ugalde, Secretary of El Colegio de México, and Sen. Emmanuel Reyes Carmona. The panels addressed key topics: innovation in health, with leaders from Novartis, Colmex and Medartis; and advances in agrotech, moderated by Lina Pohl of FAO, with the participation of Syngenta, Nestlé and Colmex.

During the second day of Switzerland Day, we inaugurated the Switzerland-Mexico Innovation Trilogy with the words of Karina Lerma, President, and Emilia Pfeiffer, Director General of SwissCham Mexico; Roberto Beltran, Director General of Innovation, Services and Domestic Trade of the Undersecretary of Industry and Trade of the Secretariat of Economy, and MBA. Ruben Araiza Diaz, General Director of the Swiss Business Hub of the Swiss Embassy in Mexico. We closed the day with a multi-sector dialogue between leading players in inclusion and security in the fintech ecosystem.

The Human Resources Working Group of SwissCham Mexico coordinated by Salvador De Antuñano on behalf of The Adecco Group began the month of June with a Diversity and Inclusion Workshop given by Alberto Arriaga Director of Pride Connection Mexico and Erika de la Barrera Jimenez of hashtag#TogetherForInclusion of Adecco Mexico.

It was an excellent opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of having practices that are developed from inclusion with a dynamic and fun presentation.

In the framework of the Energy and Sustainability Committee of SwissCham Mexico, we addressed the Panorama of Sustainable Taxonomy in Mexico, by Laura E Aguirre Tellez, General Director of International Forums and Sustainable Financing of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, and we had the academic perspectives and opportunities in Mexico for sustainable taxonomy by Dr. Carlos Vargas, Ph.D., of the Department of Finance and Business Economics of the EGADE Business School of the Tecnológico de Monterrey.

The Audit and Finance Committee of SwissCham Mexico met yesterday at the residence of Mr. Pietro Piffaretti to discuss the fiscal outlook for the six-year period 2024-2030, presented by Gerardo Esquivel Hernández, PhD in Economics from Harvard University and Distinguished Professor of Economics in Mexico.

We thank the Embassy of Switzerland in Mexico for hosting the event, Gerardo Fernandez, SICPA’s Finance Director for coordinating the event, and the representatives of Swiss companies who accompanied us!

This week at #SwissChamNorte we were honored to receive the Ambassador of Switzerland, Pietro Piffaretti, in Nuevo León, as well as the presence of the Swiss Business Hub Mexico. We appreciate the interesting agenda that included a high-level exchange with the Secretary of Economy of the State of Nuevo Leon, a valuable meeting with the consular group of Monterrey accompanied by presentations on the relevance of tourism in both Switzerland and Mexico, as well as an interesting visit to the Center for Integral Coordination, Control, Command, Communications and Computing (C5) NL.

Together with the President of SwissCham Mexico, Simon Blondin, and the Ambassador of Switzerland in Mexico, Pietro Piffaretti, we held a working meeting with the coordinators of the Thematic Committees of the Swiss Chamber, with the aim of aligning cross-cutting issues to promote the development of a positive work agenda.

We thank the Embassy of Switzerland in Mexico for the invitation and congratulate the coordinations, for having achieved in 2023 a total of 40 meetings of our 11 working groups and the new Corporate Affairs working group, 14 meetings with authorities and 2 diploma courses in ESG and Sustainability and Public Health.

SwissCham Mexico held at the Swiss Residence the last Board of Directors meeting of the year 2023 with the presence of its President Simon Blondin, and the Ambassador of Switzerland, Pietro Piffaretti. We thank the Ambassador and his distinguished wife Rosita Pérez Piffaretti for their warm hospitality. During the meeting, the Director General, Emilia Pfeiffer, presented the achievements and activities completed during the year, and the Treasurer, Caio Zuccarelli, the closing of the budget.

We extend our appreciation to the Board Members for their invaluable collaboration, to Mr. Fausto Costa from Nestlé as special guest, to the Swiss Business Hub Mexico for their participation in the session, as well as to the Chamber’s team for the great dynamism during the year.

The SWISStainability Forum was held yesterday at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Querétaro. It was the opportunity to share the best practices of Swiss companies in terms of sustainability, environment and ESG of Swiss companies present in Mexico. Novartis Mexico, a global pharmaceutical company based in Switzerland, whose purpose is to reimagine medicine to improve and prolong people’s lives by using science and technology to discover treatments, was the gold sponsor, sharing its expertise on ESG in health.

The Swiss Security 2023 Panel took place last Friday in the framework of the Security Committee of SwissCham Mexico.

In the 1st panel on cybersecurity moderated by Yves Dominique Reymond Vanegas on behalf of the Embassy of Switzerland generated an interesting dialogue together with Maria del Rosario Mülli-Ramirez, Carlos Tlahuel. Diego Martinez and Paris Reyes from Threema, DGTIC UNAM, AmCham and Schindler.In the 2nd panel we were joined by Juan Manuel Aguilar Antonio as moderator to discuss conventional security with Luis Gerardo Gonzalez, Jesus Islas, Iulia Simon, Luis Garcia and Alberto Martinez Salinas from SICPA, Novartis, CH Toro International, CANACAR and CANAITRAM.

In June, two of the mentoring workshops of the Swiss Chamber’s Mentoring Program were held for mentees. On this occasion, they addressed the importance of maintaining a life balance and generating inclusive spaces in the workplace in order to promote the development of tools and soft skills that contribute to their professional development.

In the framework of LGBT+ Pride Month atSwissCham Mexico we celebrate the recognition of the rights of people who belong to this community and recognize the importance of the role played by the business sector in guaranteeing them. We believe that diversity and social inclusion in corporations are fundamental to build spaces free of discrimination in which employees can develop professionally without limitations.

En junio se llevaron a cabo dos de los talleres de acompañamiento del Programa de Mentorías de la Cámara Suiza dirigidos a mentees. En esta ocasión, se abordó la importancia de mantener un balance de vida y generar espacios inclusivos en el ámbito laboral con el fin de impulsar el desarrollo de herramientas y capacidades blandas que contribuyan a su desarrollo profesional.

En el marco del Mes del Orgullo LGBT+, desde la SwissCham México celebramos el reconocimiento de los derechos de las personas que pertenecen a esta comunidad y reconocemos la importancia del rol que desempeña el sector empresarial para garantizarlos. Creemos que la diversidad e inclusión social en las corporaciones son fundamentales para construir espacios libres de discriminación en los que las y los colaboradores puedan desarrollarse profesionalmente sin limitaciones.

In June SwissCham Bajío organized a visit to the State of San Luis Potosí together with its affiliates to visit the facilities of the Swiss companies ABB, Faber and Franke, and to promote collaboration in the Bajío region.

El pasado mes de junio la SwissCham Bajío organizó una visita al Estado de San Luis Potosí junto con sus afiliados para conocer las instalaciones de las empresas suizas ABB, Faber y Franke; y fomentar la colaboración en la región del Bajío

En el marco del Comité de Comercio Exterior de la Cámara Suiza realizamos una visita a la Aduana del AIFA junto con representantes de las empresas suizas, Embajada de Suiza y autoridades de la ANAM y AIFA con el objetivo de conocer el funcionamiento y operación de la aduana y las áreas que la conforman, así como fortalecer el intercambio de diálogo entre el sector privado suizo y las instituciones mexicanas.

Within the framework of the Foreign Trade Committee of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce, we visited AIFA Customs together with representatives of Swiss companies, the Swiss Embassy and authorities of ANAM and AIFA to learn about the functioning and operation of customs and the areas that comprise it, as well as to strengthen the exchange of dialogue between the Swiss private sector and Mexican institutions.

Syngenta, líder en traer el potencial de las plantas a la vida, realizó el evento “Sostenibilidad: De la Agenda a la Acción” con el objetivo de continuar impulsando buenas prácticas en el campo, acelerar la innovación para hacer frente a los crecientes retos que enfrentan los agricultores y ser parte de la solución para producir alimentos suficientes y con la calidad adecuada.

Syngenta, a leader company in bringing the potential of plants to life, held the event “Sustainability: From Agenda to Action” with the aim of continuing to promote good practices in the field, accelerate innovation to address the growing challenges faced by farmers and be part of the solution to produce sufficient food with the right quality.

The Swiss-Mexican Chamber of Commerce and Industry held its twenty-seventh meeting of the Board of Directors with the participation of Simon Blondin, President of the SwissCham, Emilia Pfeiffer, Director General; Members of the Board of Directors and the Embassy of Switzerland. During the second part of the morning, the Positive Masculinities Workshop was held with the participation of CEOs and Executives of Swiss companies to address the topic “machismo in offices and how to dismantle it”.

La Cámara Suizo-Mexicana de Comercio e Industria llevó a cabo su vigésima séptima reunión del Consejo Directivo con la participación de Simon Blondin, Presidente de la SwissCham, Emilia Pfeiffer, Directora General; Miembros del Consejo Directivo y la Embajada de Suiza. Durante la segunda parte de la mañana se llevó a cabo el Taller de Masculinidades Positivas en el que participaron los CEOs y Directivos de las empresas suizas para abordar la temática “machismo en las oficinas y como desarticularlo”.

As part of the sustainability and employability agenda, in June we participated in the breakfast organized by the Government of Querétaro “Decarbonizing the economy: Querétaro’s challenge” and visited the facilities of Straumann, a Swiss company leader in offering oral and dental solutions and innovations, to explore areas of collaboration and initiate the process of joining the Dual Training model.

Como parte de la agenda en materia de sustentabilidad y empleabilidad en el mes de junio participamos en el desayuno que organizó el Gobierno de Querétaro “Descarbonizando la economía: Reto de Querétaro” y visitamos las instalaciones de Straumann, empresa suiza líder en ofrecer soluciones e innovaciones bucodentales, para explorar áreas de colaboración e iniciar el proceso de adhesión al modelo de Formación Dual.

Together with the EUROCAM Chambers of Commerce, in June we organized the European Afterwork Networking Cocktail in which more than 250 people from 7 Chambers, representatives of governmental institutions and private initiative participated.

As part of the activities of SwissCham Bajío y Occidente, we organized a visit to the facilities of ABB and Monosuisse based in Guadalajara and Querétaro. We also participated in the lunch organized by the Government of Hidalgo to present business and investment opportunities in the state.

The new Unlimitrust campus aims to promote the conception of ideas and the development of innovative solutions that respond to emerging challenges to the foundations of trust in our societies. This initiative seeks to foster the exchange of synergies between a dynamic community composed of startups, companies, SICPA employees and researchers to create a safer and more trustworthy world for all through collaboration and the sharing of multiple knowledge and experiences.

SwissCham Mexico in conjunction with the Embassy of Switzerland and the Swiss Business Hub organized a lunch with authorities of the State of Sonora with the objective of promoting the collaboration of Swiss companies in the development of Plan Sonora.

La SwissCham México en conjunto con la Embajada de Suiza y el Swiss Business Hub organizaron una comida con autoridades del Estado de Sonora con el objetivo de promover la colaboración de las empresas suizas en el desarrollo del Plan Sonora.

La Cámara Suizo-Mexicana de Comercio e Industria en conjunto con la Embajada de Suiza organizaron el Foro de Movilidad Limpia y Ciudades del Mañana con el objetivo de dar a conocer la principales tendencias que determinan tanto la movilidad como las ciudades del mañana, considerando las perspectivas, avances e innovación tanto de Suiza como de México. El evento se llevó a cabo de 08:30 a 12:00 hrs. en el Museo Interactivo de Economía (MIDE) con transmisión en vivo y contó con dos paneles enfocados en: 1) Cambios en el panorama de la movilidad: y 2) Infraestructura y ciudades sostenibles.

The Swiss-Mexican Chamber of Commerce and Industry in conjunction with the Embassy of Switzerland organized the Clean Mobility and Cities of Tomorrow Forum with the objective of presenting the main trends that determine both mobility and the cities of tomorrow, considering the perspectives, advances and innovation of both Switzerland and Mexico. The event was held from 08:30 to 12:00 hrs. at the Museo Interactivo de Economía (MIDE) with live broadcast and featured two panels focused on: 1) Changes in the mobility landscape: and 2) Infrastructure and sustainable cities.

In May, the Spanish, French and Swiss Chambers participated in the breakfast conference on the Panorama of Salary Trends for the Bajío region presented by Ricardo Zuria Delgado, Adecco’s Senior Compensation Consultant. The event was held at the Domún Hotel in Querétaro.

En el mes de mayo, las Cámaras Española, Francesa y Suiza participaron en el desayuno conferencia sobre el Panorama de las tendencias salariales para el Bajío presentado por Ricardo Zuria Delgado, Consultor Sr. Especialista en compensaciones de Adecco. SwissCham Mexico launched the third edition of the Women Leaders Mentoring Program sponsored by ABB, Adecco, Holcim, Novartis and Nozomi Networks with more than 100 participants from 30 Swiss companies affiliated to the Chamber. The objective of this program is to promote the transmission of knowledge and soft skills through valuable exchanges that will allow to continue positioning women in high-level positions as well as to boost the professional potential and leadership capacity of women in order to reduce the gender gap.

SwissCham Bajío organized a visit for its affiliates with the objective of visiting the facilities of the Adval Tech plant located in El Marqués in the State of Querétaro. This visit took place as part of the closing of March’s activities and allowed the Chamber’s affiliates to learn about the activities of Adval Tech, a Swiss company specializing in the automotive parts sector.

La SwissCham México llevó a cabo el lanzamiento de las tercesr edición del Programa Mujeres Líderes de Mentorías patrocinado por ABB, Adecco, Holcim, Novartis y Nozomi Networks con más de 100 participantes provenientes de 30 empresas suizas afiliadas a la Cámara. Este programa tiene como objetivo Impulsar la transmisión de conocimientos y capacidades blandas mediante intercambios de valor que permitan continuar posicionando a las mujeres en puestos de alto nivel así como impulsar el potencial profesional y capacidad de liderazgo de las mujeres con el fin de reducir la brecha de género.

La SwissCham Bajío organizó una visita para sus afiliados con el objetivo de visitar las instalaciones de la planta de Adval Tech que se ubica en en el Marqués en el Estado de Querétaro. Esta visita se llevó a cabo como parte del cierre de las actividades del mes de marzo y permitió a los afiliados de la Cámara conocer las actividades que realiza Adval Tech, empresa suiza especializada en el sector automotriz de autopartes.

Within the framework of the Joint Foreign Trade and Security Committee, we organized a visit together with the Embassy of Switzerland to the offices of the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM) in Mexico City with the objective of strengthening cooperation and exploring areas of interest and opportunity for representatives of Swiss companies affiliated to the Chamber.

SwissCham Mexico participated in the meeting organized by Index Nuevo Leon in Saltillo as part of the exchange of dialogue and strengthening of synergies with strategic actors. The first meeting of this 2023 was aimed at presenting a panel on Legitimization of collective bargaining agreements, current outlook and strategy for the future of labor by Index Nuevo León.

El Foro Suizo de Mujeres Líderes es un evento anual que se realiza junto con la Embajada de Suiza con el objetivo de promover la igualdad de género en el mundo laboral, así como el intercambio entre el sector privado, público y académico. Este año 2023, alineado a la estrategia de Presidencia de la Cámara, el foro se enfocó en el rol de las mujeres que han impulsado estrategias innovadoras en temas de medio ambiente, social y gobernanza en sus organizaciones.

The Swiss Women Leaders Forum is an annual event held in conjunction with the Embassy of Switzerland with the aim of promoting gender equality in the workplace, as well as the exchange between the private, public and academic sectors. This year 2023, aligned with the Chamber’s Presidential strategy, the forum focused on the role of women who have driven innovative strategies in environmental, social and governance issues in their organizations.

As part of the activities of the Bajío chapter, we organized a breakfast at the Four Points Hotel in Querétaro, focused on fiscal updates and environmental taxes with two interesting presentations by our network of experts; Bertín Gutierrez and Abel Camacho Brito from Deloitte; and Daniel Peyret García from Punto Cero para el Desarrollo.

Together with the European Chambers of Commerce (EUROCAM) we held the networking cocktail “The role of women in the international economy” as part of the commemoration of International Women’s Day on March 8th. With more than 70 participants from the German, British, French, Italian, Nordic and Swiss Chambers, we counted with the participation of Margarita Alcántara, General Director of Global Economic Impulse of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

En conjunto con las Cámaras de Comercio Europeas (EUROCAM) llevamos a cabo el cóctel de networking “El papel de las mujeres en la economía internacional” en el marco de la conmemoración del Día Internacional de la Mujer el 08 de marzo. Con más de 70 participantes provenientes de la Cámara Alemana, Británica, Francesa, Italiana, Nórdica y Suiza, contamos con la participación de Margarita Alcántara, Directora General de Impulso Económico Global de la Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores.

We kicked off the year 2023 with the organization of a breakfast conference on the theme “Perspectives 2023” Bajío, to which the companies affiliated to the Swiss Chamber were invited. The event took place at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Querétaro.

SwissCham Mexico and the Embassy of Switzerland in Mexico extended a cordial invitation to the Coordinators of the Chamber’s Working Groups to present the work agendas and define areas of collaboration for 2023, as well as to align cross-cutting themes.

SwissCham Mexico participated in the Universities Fair 2023, organized by the Swiss College of Mexico, where the Chamber presented its activities, the implementation of Dual Training, as well as a brief overview of the importance of Swiss companies in Mexico, and the bilateral relationship between Switzerland and Mexico.

La SwissCham México participó en la Feria de Universidades 2023 que fue organizada por el Colegio Suizo de México en la cual se presentaron las actividades que la Cámara lleva a cabo, la implementación de Formación Dual, así como un breve panorama de la importancia que tienen las empresas suizas en México, y la relación bilateral entre Suiza y México.

SwissCham Mexico together with Nestlé shared the importance of Dual Training as a channel for young people’s insertion into the formal labor market at the breakfast organized by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) with the aim of continuing to promote new alliances.

At the initiative of the Coordinating Council of Women Entrepreneurs of Nuevo León and the Ministry of Economy of Nuevo León, a collaboration agreement was signed for the development of projects with a gender component related to entrepreneurship, social responsibility, digitalization and sustainability.

We concluded the Diploma in ESG and Sustainability with a few words from the President of SwissCham Mexico, Simon Blondin, as well as the Ambassador of Switzerland in Mexico, Pietro Piffaretti.

Congratulations on this fruitful joint initiative that brought together more than 60 participants from the private, public and academic sectors to discuss with experts from Switzerland, as well as Swiss companies in Mexico, key environmental, social and governance issues!

The Board of Directors met this week and we celebrated our year-end posada by saying goodbye and thanking Christian Michel for his commitment and leadership during these five years with SwissCham Mexico, and Emilia Pfeiffer was appointed as the new Director General. We wish her the best of success.

The Ambassador of Switzerland in Mexico extended an invitation to his residence to the Coordinators of the Thematic Working Groups of SwissCham Mexico and the Chamber’s executive team to generate an exchange of dialogue on the activities and events that took place on site and virtually in 2022.

In the framework of the visit of Emmi’s CEO to Mexico, we organized together with the Embassy a visit to the Emmi / Mexideli cheese distribution center in Mexico City. There are high tariffs between Mexico and Switzerland on cheese and other dairy products and we discussed the importance of modernizing the free trade agreement between Mexico and EFTA. 

En el marco de la visita del CEO de Emmi a México, organizamos junto con la Embajada una visita al centro de distribución de quesos Emmi / Mexideli en Ciudad de México. Existen altos aranceles entre México y Suiza en quesos y otros productos lácteos por lo que hablamos de la importancia en la modernización del tratado de libre comercio entre México-AELC.

We concluded the 2nd edition of the Diploma in Public Health organized by SwissCham Mexico with the Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+), the Swiss Chambers of Latam and Roche with a few words from the Deputy Director of SwissCham, Emilia Pfeiffer as well as Maïa Inzaurralde from the Swiss Embassy and Celina Rodriguez from Roche.

Together with Syngenta, we organized a visit with Ambassador Piffaretti to the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) to find out about all the technology and innovation in the field that Syngenta is doing. CIMMYT is an international scientific research organization in the agricultural sector, specialized in the development of improved maize and wheat varieties.

Junto con Syngenta, organizamos una visita con el Embajador Piffaretti al Centro International de Mejoramiento de Maíz y Trigo (CIMMYT) para descubrir sobre toda la tecnología e innovación en el campo que realiza Syngenta. El CIMMYT es una organización internacional de investigación científica en el sector agrícola, especializada en el desarrollo de variedades mejoradas de maíz y de trigo.

Together with the support of the Honorary Consul in Guadalajara, Mr. Roger Eleutheri, the Embassy of Switzerland and the Swiss Business Hub, we visited Siemens plant and the facilities of IJALTI / CANIETI Western Chapter and SEDECO Jalisco. Afterwards, we organized a breakfast with representatives of Swiss companies and businessmen to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the region.

Together with the Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Monterrey, we organized the first Networking cocktail on the 2023 economic outlook in the region for our affiliated companies and allies. We had the participation of more than 160 people from the 7 Chambers. This event was sponsored by Adecco Mexico and SGS.

We held the second edition of the SWISStainability Forum at the University of Monterrey with more than 40 in-person participants and close to 300 virtual reproductions. We had the participation of representatives from Swiss companies, the Swiss Embassy in Mexico, the government of Nuevo Leon, Monterrey and sustainability experts to learn more about the efforts and achievements that Swiss companies have made in sustainability.

Llevamos a cabo la segunda edición del Foro SWISStainability en la Universidad de Monterrey con más de 40 participantes presenciales y cerca de 300 reproducciones virtuales. Contamos con la participación de representantes de empresas suizas, Embajada de Suiza en México, gobierno de Nuevo León, Monterrey y expertos en sustentabilidad para conocer más sobre los esfuerzos y alcances que las empresas suizas han logrado en materia de sustentabilidad.

SwissCham Mexico organized a breakfast with the participation of Bettina Schaller, Head of Group Public Affairs of Grupo Adecco and President of the World Employment Confederation (WEC), representatives of Swiss companies and the Swiss Embassy in Mexico, in order to learn and exchange views on the future of employment, as well as challenges and opportunities for companies.

Due to several factors like the COVID-19 pandemic, increases in sea freight and long waiting times in international transportation, manufacturing companies have opted to relocate their value chains, facilitate integration of supply chains, and concentrate production in destinations close to final consumption.

This report aims to provide an overview of the concept of nearshoring and portray the advantages of nearshoring for Swiss companies in Mexico. Due to several factors like the COVID-19 pandemic, increases in sea freight and long waiting times in international transportation, manufacturing companies have opted to relocate their value chains, facilitate integration of supply chains, and concentrate production in destinations close to final consumption.

We celebrated our Sixth General Assembly to approve new members, financial statements, strategy and activities, as well as to elect the new Board of Directors 2022-2023. We also welcomed the CEO of Switzerland Global Enterprise, Simone Wyss, and the Swiss Business Hub. We thank the 50 Swiss companies for their participation and commitment!

We organized a roundtable in Querétaro to share with the Swiss Embassy in Mexico, the Swiss Business Hub, the Honorary Consul of Switzerland in the region and partners established in the Bajío region about potential areas of collaboration and to hold a networking cocktail after the roundtable.

From August 29 to September 2, our Executive Director participated in the annual meeting of Swiss Chambers Abroad organized by Switzerland Global Enterprise. In addition to sharing good practices between chambers, our director participated in a seminar on export and investment promotion, visited several Swiss companies, and presented our institution at the Latin America Day organized by the Latin American Chamber of Commerce in Switzerland.

Del 29 de agosto al 2 de septiembre, el Director de la SwissCham México participó en la reunión anual de cámaras suizas en el exterior organizada por Switzerland Global Enterprise. Además de compartir buenas prácticas entre cámaras, nuestro director participó en un seminario sobre promoción de exportaciones e inversión, la visita a varias empresas suizas, y presentó a nuestra institución en el Latin America Day organizado por la Latin American Chamber of Commerce in Switzerland.

More than 70 participants had the opportunity to know about the activities and vacancies offered by companies such as Bühler, Clariant, Givaudan, Holcim, MSC, Nestlé, Novartis, Richemont, SGS, Sika, Swiss Re, Syngenta and Zurich.

La SwissCham México llevó a cabo la segunda edición de la feria suiza de empleo. Contamos con la intervención de Adecco Group, Ferring y Schindler. Más de 70 participantes tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer las actividades y vacantes de empresas como Bühler, Clariant, Givaudan, Holcim, MSC, Nestlé, Novartis, Richemont, SGS, Sika, Swiss Re, Syngenta y Zurich.

From 22 to 27 September 2022, the Lugano Summer School in public policy, economics and management in public health took place. With the support of the Chamber, two Mexican students from the Mexican Institute of Public Health (INSP) were able to participate in the summer school through scholarships.

Del 22 al 27 de septiembre 2022 se llevó a cabo la Escuela de Verano de Lugano en políticas públicas, economía y gestión de salud pública. Con el apoyo de la Cámara, dos estudiantes mexicanos del Instituto Nacional de Salud Pública de México (INSP) pudieron participar en dicho curso a través de becas. 

Taking advantage of the visit of the new Deputy Head of Mission of the Swiss Embassy in Mexico, Yves Reymond, a series of working meetings were held with Swiss companies in Nuevo León, state authorities such as the Secretariat of Economy, Secretariat of Economic Development of Monterrey, State Employment Service, Invest Monterrey, Information Technology Cluster, Secretariat of Environment and Education.

Together for Inclusion is an initiative that has been launched by Adecco in collaboration with the Mexican Federation of LGBT+ Entrepreneurs, which consists of a training and awareness strategy for the business sector that wishes to participate, with the objective of promoting labor inclusion of vulnerable groups in a win-win scenario for the parties involved. Together with the Association of European Chambers of Commerce in Mexico (EUROCAM) we organized a breakfast with President of Mexico’s Business Council (CCE), Francisco Cervantes Díaz, in which he offered an exchange of opinions on the country’s economic outlook. We held the closure of the 2nd edition of the Mentorship Program for Women Leaders together with IPADE thanks to the sponsorship of Adecco, Credit Suisse, Holcim, Nestlé and Novartis. The Program had more than 70 participants and six thematic sessions with the objective of continuing to promote women’s leadership in the workplace.

The Swiss Chambers in Latin America organized a webinar on Gender Equality with the Latin American Chamber of Commerce in Switzerland (LATCAM). Eight female corporate leaders shared their experiences and views on diversity and inclusion in Swiss companies in Latin America.

Together with the Association of European Chambers of Commerce in Mexico (EUROCAM) we organized an afterwork cocktail for our member companies. More than 150 people from eight European chambers of commerce participated. The directors of the chambers gave a welcome speech. This event was sponsored by: Baker & MacKenzie, Bakertilly, Broxel, Humand (as well as Adecco and Grupo Modelo).

Junto con la Asociación de Cámaras Europeas de Comercio en México (EUROCAM) organizamos un coctel afterwork para nuestras empresas afiliadas y aliados. Participaron más de 150 personas de ocho cámaras. Los/as directores/as de las cámaras dieron un mensaje de bienvenida. Este evento fue patrocinado por: Baker & MacKenzie, Bakertilly, Broxel, Humand (así como Adecco y Grupo Modelo). 

El Cóctel de Networking Comités, se llevó a cabo con más de 80 ejecutivos de empresas suizas afiliadas y representantes de instituciones aliadas como la Embajada de Suiza en México, el Swiss Business Hub y Swiss Community Mexico. En este espacio, los asistentes pudieron hablar sobre los temas en agenda para las futuras reuniones de los 11 Comités y generar estrategias intersectoriales en beneficio del sector privado suizo en el país. 

This Cocktail was held with the participation of more than 80 top level executives from member companies and allies such as the Swiss Embassy to Mexico, the Swiss Business Hub and Swiss Community Mexico. In this gathering, the partcipants were able to discuss the topics on the agenda for the future meetings of the 11 Working Groups and generate intersectoral strategies for the benefit of the Swiss private sector in the country.

In the framework of LGBT+ pride month, we organized a breakfast with two panel discussions on LGBT+ inclusion in Swiss companies. One panel focused on corporate policies of inclusion and the other on personal experiences of members of the community. We thank Novartis for hosting the breakfast and the participating companies: Adecco, Novartis, Zurich, Ferring, Nestlé, Curaden and Givaudan, as well as our moderators from ADIL and SRE and words of welcome by the Swiss Embassy. 

En el marco del mes del orgullo LGBT+ organizamos un desayuno con dos páneles de discusión sobre la inclusión laboral de personas LGBT+ en empresas suizas. Un panel se enfocó en políticas empresariales de inclusión y otro en experiencias personales de miembros de la comunidad. The chambers of commerce of Germany, Spain, France, the Netherlands and the SwissCham Bajío organized a successful cocktail with more than 250 people in Querétaro for member companies and allies.
